“Arogi” Day care Centre for Children with Disabilities

As part of its multiple charity initiatives, “Arogi” created and inaugurated in November 2003 a Day care Centre for destitute children with disabilities in the Municipality of Acharnes, Attica.

The Centre was built on 3.000 sq.m. of land, the use of which was granted to the Association by the Municipality of Acharnes, and its completion was made possible thanks to financial contributions from benefactors, donors and sponsoring companies.

This is a prototype Day care Centre, supported with specialist instructors. It is equipped with a custom swimming pool and exercise area, where children follow training programs adapted to their individual abilities.

The “Arogi” Day care Centre hosts daily 55 children with disabilities and provides them with opportunities for creative activities and sports. The Centre is open daily, from 8:30 am to 8:00 pm.

Transportation of the children to/from the Centre is managed by two custom-built buses; one bus was donated by the efforts of “Arogi” members and the other one by the former Minister for Tourism, Mrs Fani Palli-Petralia.

The Centre is operated by the Municipality of Acharnes, with three (3) members of the Board of Directors occupied by “Arogi” in order to follow its operation and ensure that the Centre’s objectives are met.

Through the activities of the Centre, “Arogi” aims to assist the smooth socialisation of children with special needs and to help them improve their personal balance.
